Let’s join hands against drugs; ‘Operation Toofan’ in Chathannoor.

Chathannoor: Maheswari O., President of the Chathannoor Grama Panchayat, inaugurated the ‘Operation Toofan’ campaign by flagging it off; the initiative aims to build strong public resistance against substance abuse. Various awareness activities are being organized with the objective of preventing drug use and trafficking, while also keeping youth and students away from substance abuse.

People from various sectors of society—including elected representatives, officials, teachers, students, youth, Kudumbashree workers, Haritha Karma Sena representatives, and voluntary organizations—participated in a pledge-taking ceremony as part of a joint campaign implemented by the Government of Kerala, the Local Self-Government Department, the Kerala Police, and the Excise Department.

Organizers called upon everyone to participate in the fight against drugs, upholding the message: "I am the guardian of my land."

Special emphasis will be placed on notifying the concerned authorities if instances of substance abuse are detected and on fostering anti-drug awareness among children and the youth. The campaign is proceeding with the message, "Let us join hands against drugs; freedom for all..." As part of the initiative, special Gram Sabhas were convened at the ward level, 'Warriors' were selected, and badges were distributed to them. Follow-up activities for 'Operation Thooshan' were also organized.
